The newly established chair group "Agricultural and Food Economics" at the Center of Life and Food Sciences Weihenstephan (WZW), Technische Universität München (TUM), is looking out for strong candidates for
Six PhD positions in agricultural and food economics and related fields (0,5 FTE)
under the supervision of Prof. Dr. J. Wesseler.
Applicants for the PhD positions should hold a university degree in economics, applied economics (e.g. agriculture, environment, natural resources) or applied mathematics with a strong interest in economics, preferably at MPhil/MSc level, possess strong analytic and technical capabilities in recent economic methods, proficiency in statistical and econometric methods, and have an interest in developing collaborative research within the research project. A GRE test will be required for admission. Fluency in spoken and written English is expected (a TOEFL or IELTS test will be required for non-native speakers) and knowledge of the German language an advantage.
We offer a stimulating, internationally oriented research environment with a focus on life science economics and policy such as regulation of agriculture biotechnology and biofuels, sustainable food supply chains, and contribution of agriculture towards sustainable development. Research projects are often carried out in collaboration with leading national and international partners.
Salaries are in accordance with the German state regulated public service salary scale (0,5 E13). The initial contract will be for one year for developing a detailed research proposal with the possibility of a three year extension. Technische Universität München is an equal opportunity employer.
