We are offering
four PhD-student positions, employment according to 0.5 BAT IIa / TV-L E13,
for the Z I E L – Coordinated PhD-program entitled “Epigenetics, Imprinting and Nutrition” starting January, 2007.
Applicants should nominate their favourite project (listed below) and provide a rank order according to their interest and skills. The subjects for the 4 projects are:
(1) Nutrient-modulation of gene expression and differentiation in embryonic stem cells
(2) Modulating effects of phytochemicals in relation to folic status on the epigenetic regulation of selected candidate genes of colon carcinogenesis
(3) Fatty acids and epigenetic mechanisms in adipogenesis and metabolic/nutritional programming
(4) Epigenetic effects of exogenous and endogenous estrogenic compounds on embryo development
Z I E L is involved in studying fundamental molecular processes in the biology of nutrition and offers here 4 PhD positions for talented and highly motivated students (with a MSc. or Diploma) with a particular interest in integrated research bridging epigenetics, molecular imprinting and nutrition. The research program will use relevant mammalian models and focuses on
developmental processes and their nutritional implications. Applications are invited from individuals with a strong interest in being part of an innovative and multidisciplinary research team.
The duration of the research projects and positions is three years with the option of an extension.
The Z I E L – coordinated PhD-program includes a project-based budget for consumables, equipment, and travel. The salary will be according to German public service scale (TV-L) including fringe benefits. The deadline for applications is November 15th, 2006.
