2 PhD student positions

Research objectives:
The project will investigate the interactions between nutritional factors, the commensal intestinal microbiota and the host in order to elucidate the major determinants influencing the balance between health, pathophysiologic reactions and disease. The project is embedded in the DFG funded Collaborative Research Centre SFB 852 (http://www.sfb852.de) and requires willingness for interdisciplinary research with scientists working on other projects of the research centre. Experimental work includes common biochemical, microbiological and molecular biological techniques as well as animal experiments. The candidate will join the Integrated Research Training group "Biology of Nutrition" allowing excellent training of young researchers in an interdisciplinary environment.

Qualification and experience:
Applicants must have graduated in a field related to the topic of the respective project. Successful candidates should be bright, eager, hard working and enthusiastic about conducting research.

Salary:
Positions are immediately available and filled as soon as suitable candidates have been identified. The positions are limited to 3 years. Salary will be paid according to German federal employee tariff TV-L E 13 (50%).
